| LSC plans to remove Child Abuse (see our Campaign Page) |
| In controversial new proposals the Legal Services Commission are planning to remove from the scope of Legal Aid all non-negligently caused injury and place it in the category of the Lord Chancellor's discretion.
This in the view of ACAL is a denial of the right to justice for one of the most vulnerable groups of litigants in our society. We have opposed the proposals in the strongest terms. Lobby your MP now - send him/her one our suggested letters. These proposals have come about simply due to budgetary constraints imposed by Central Government.
Additionally, it is proposed that Financial restrictions be tightened considerably in order to remove the house equity exemption of £100,000. This inevitably means that in order to enter the litigation process Child Abuse Claimants have to put their house on the line. The proposals are unfair and must be opposed. ......read
