Restoring Dignity press conference to occur today.

We’ve received word from Restoring Dignity that they’re to have a press conference today at 1:30pm in Luneburg Room, The Westin, Nova Scotian, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Below follows their press release related to it.

Traumatic Brain Injury common among child abuse victims/survivors but many falling through the cracks of the system.
The Press Conference will discuss the impact of Traumatic Brain Injury among child abuse victims/survivors.

Mr. Roch Longueépée, founder and CEO for Restoring Dignity has been diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury. The diagnosis comes after a ten year period of heavy research and systemic hurdles.
Joining Mr. Longueépée :

Mr. Harry Zarins, M.Ed., Executive Director, Brain Injury Association of Canada
Dr. Michael J. Rieder, Lead medical investigator, MD, Ph.D FRCPC FAAP FRCP(Glasgow), CIHR-GSK Chair in Paediatric Clinical Pharmacology, Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Departments of Medicine, Physiology & Pharmacology and Paediatrics Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Faculty Scholar, University of Western Ontario.
Longueépée will also be discussing the issue of his diagnosis and Traumatic Brian Injury among child abuse victims/survivors. Traumatic Brain Injury an issue Longueépée says has not been discussed with the segment of the population unlike Military Personnel, contact sports and others. Longueépée also will be encouraging child abuse victims/survivors who have experienced head trauma to seek testing, treatment and accommodation. Equally important are the standards of assessing injuries of children entering the child welfare system.
Longueépée says many child abuse victims/survivors are misdiagnosed and are falling through the cracks of the system. Longueépée says a dialogue about child abuse victims/survivors living with Traumatic Brain Injury must begin to encourage public understanding and education for this underrepresented segment of the population. This segment of the population he says are struggling with ‘invisible disabilities’ as is he.

The fast growing male rape survivor’s charity, Survivor’s Manchester has launched their fabulous new site with much more to see. Check it out by following the link below.

Duncan, the group leader says, “I am delighted to be able to announce that the new Survivors Manchester site has now been launched and already we are getting some incredible feedback. Hundreds Accused Of Child Sex Offences Could Be Cleared

Hundreds of men who say they were wrongly accused of child pornography offences could have their names cleared after a case to be heard in the court of appeal today.

One of the 3,700 men arrested as part of Operation Ore in 2002, who says his life was ruined after he was falsely associated with one of the UK’s biggest online child-abuse rings, will argue that his credit card details were stolen and used on paedophile sites.

Appeal court verdict could open the door for vicarious liability claimants

This week, the question of who is potentially liable for the alleged physical and sexual abuse of 150 pupils at St William’s boys’ school in east Yorkshire between 1960 and 1992 was considered by the court of appeal. In 2004 the main abuser, Brother James Carragher, headmaster during this period, was convicted of abusing boys at the home.

Father James Robinson conviction hailed as ‘victory’

Father James Robinson, 73, has been found guilty of sexually abusing six boys between 1959 and 1983 in the West Midlands.

Robinson fled to the United States in 1985, becoming a Roman Catholic priest in California.

Blanchard’s child sex abuse ring brought to justice

Care worker and grandmother Tracy Dawber, from Southport, was found guilty by a unanimous verdict of sexually assaulting a five-month-old girl and allowing pictures to be taken of the abuse.

She is one of four women who was persuaded by convicted paedophile Colin Blanchard, 40, to engage in child sex abuse.

As many as 8 care workers were convicted of abuse. David now campaigns vigorously for the survivors of abuse.

Facebook and Bebo child sex abuse postman jailed

A postman from Cornwall who used social-networking websites to abuse hundreds of children has been jailed for eight-and-a-half years.

Michael Williams admitted inciting sexual activity, grooming and distributing indecent images.

The 29-year-old, from Penryn, approached children on Facebook and Bebo, Truro Crown Court heard.
