LITIGATION: ACTING ON BEHALF
OF ADULTS ABUSED IN CHILDHOOD
"A day course for Lawyers who have already attended the Introductory
Course or Lawyers who think they know it all and want to check that they
actually do!"
Background to course: The practical side of these cases is always
of interest to practitioners of all abilities and experience.
Aims:
To provide practitioners with the opportunity to:
- Evaluate their level of proficiency in being able to work effectively
with clients
- Assess the level of their knowledge, understanding and application
of the relevant law.
- Enhance professional confidence and skills
- Improve client care
- Discuss issues and concerns
Objectives:
At the end of the day participants will
- Have been provided with the opportunity to assess their level of competence
- Be able to identify areas which require further skills and knowledge
input
- Understand how to interview a client
- Possess greater understanding of the legal and evidential issues
- Be able to identify who to sue
- Know which documents they want and how to get them
- Which expert to use and how to instruct them
- Learn how to get funding and how much they will get if they can.
The day will be wholly participatory, the course will be built around
a case study and consist of individual and group work, discussion, debate
and questionnaires.
